Understanding
Communication is always the key. The advertisements for The Cancer Centers of America contain an advantage of their system that is not featured. They 'communicate with' their patient and do not just 'talk to' them. The essence of communcation is understanding what was supposedly communicated. The only way to do this is to stop after telling someone something and ask, "Now tell me what I just told you." You will likely get startled looks and stammering and an unwillingness to comply with your request. However, unless you can tell me what I told you in a manner that I recognize it for what I thought I told you WE HAVE NEVER COMMUNICATED!!!
The next time you give someone instructions take a little pause and then ask them to tell you what you have just told them. You will likely be amazed.
