Corn Syrup Sweetened Beverages and Diabetes
The recent meeting of the American Chemical Society discussed the increase in diabetes in
Americans related to high fructose corn syrup used to sweeten beverages.
These beverages had very high levels of carbonyl compounds such as methyl glyoxal which is
believed to cause tissue damage linked to diabetes.
The gallons and gallons of such beverages that are guzzled by all, including children, can thus
poison the body and lead to diabetes.
